LAGOS, Nigeria 鈥� 成人直播's partnered with the Lagos State Ministry of Justice to host the inaugural 2025 Colloquium Against Human Trafficking at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja. The event, themed 鈥淎 United Front Against Ritual Abuse and Sacrifice,鈥� brought together leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from 15 countries鈥攊ncluding attorneys general, Supreme Court justices, prosecutors, and NGO leaders鈥攖o confront ritual abuse and human trafficking in Africa.
Over 260 participants attended the two-day event, which emphasized coordinated continental action against these crimes. Attendees engaged in sessions and solution sprints aimed at developing actionable strategies to protect vulnerable populations and strengthen justice systems.
鈥淣o matter what our background is, we all would agree that this act of ritual abuse and sacrifice is evil,鈥� said Cameron McCollum, Executive Director of 成人直播鈥檚 Sudreau Global Justice Institute. 鈥淚 believe that [this colloquium] will be part of shifting the conversation and starting a Pan-African dialogue that will lead to the end of this practice once and for all.鈥�
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lawal Pedro (SAN), Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, called for a united African response to ritual abuse and human trafficking, highlighting recent tragic cases in Nigeria and noting that these crimes are 鈥渘o longer myths or isolated incidents but expanding criminal enterprises destroying lives across communities.鈥�
鈥淭oday, we are not here just for another conference; we are here for a continental call to conscience, an urgent movement to reclaim the sanctity of human life in Africa,鈥� said Pedro.
During the conference, participants also discussed milestones, including that between 2022 and 2024, over 4,753 victims of trafficking were rescued and supported by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP); 109 community anti-trafficking advocates were trained; over five million residents were reached through awareness campaigns; and the Lagos State Organ Harvesting Prohibition Law 2024 was enacted, criminalizing organ trafficking with stringent penalties.
The conference received widespread coverage across African media, including television, print, and online outlets, underscoring its significance and impact.
